The life-size RX78-2 Gundam will be returning to Tokyo's Odaiba island next spring after almost three years. The news had been confirmed by the executive committee for the Tokyo Gundam Project.
The life-size statue of the original Gundam, the RX78-2 Gundam piloted by Amuro Ray, is being rebuilt at Diver City Tokyo, a complex under construction on the island by Mitsui Fudosan and Fuji TV.
The 1/1 RX78-2 Gundam statue first stood at Odaiba in July of 2009 and attracted 4.15 million visitors before it closed the following month, and some parts returned to Tokyo last August as a charity drive after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake disaster.
